This video is something like what im thinking about doing,,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVBAUr8Q1uU

im nt really sure what genre of ad it falls under.

My Ad Project idea.

This “Spoof Ad” really caught my attention when I was surfing the web looking for ads that might help me decided which way I want to go with my project. I like how in this ad the baby looks so happy to have whisky that he abandons his pacifier, but everyone who sees it clearly knows it’s a bad thing. I was thinking of doing something similar to the message in this ad, I want to show the downside of using alcohol but show it in a way that that pokes fun at the myths that make alcohol look positive. Such as Alcohol gives you energy, Beer before liquor, never been sicker - liquor before beer, you're in the clear, Alcohol isn't harmful to my body,  etc...
I was Thinking about photos that compare the two myths:

Alcohol gives you energy:
Does this guy look like he feels the same as ..........
                           these people.....
Alcohol isn't harmful to my body.
alcohol is never good for your body.....

Does this look healthy?
*I am still not sure how I want to make the ad ( I was thinking maybe Power Point or some type of flyer).*

My attempt at a "Letter to the Editor"

                                     CHECK-IN HOURS
Check-in hours are not as restrictive as some students living in the residence halls may think.  Although check-in hours may be a little inconvenient to some, it is needed for the security of the students.  It is better for a student to take maybe one minute to check themselves in then to have a random person come in and not check-in, and take one minute to take things from someone, and or harm someone. There are already crimes going on around campus with the check-in policy imagine if there was no check-in policy and people could just freely come in and out of your residence hall. Some may say having to check your guest in is an inconvenience but something may happen with someone’s guest and no one would be able to know who the guest was without them signing-in. Even though the doors to the floors in the residence halls are locked and only opened by a residents swiping in, there is always someone either going in or coming out of the doors which makes it simple for someone to just walk in with them.
Furthermore when the people at the front desk notice you as a familiar face they just let you go past them without you having to check in because they know that you live there, thus removing the inconvenience of having to check-in. At Harrison hall they even give the residents stickers to put on the back of their ID’s, so that they can check in by just showing the sticker.
Checking-in is for the resident’s safety and is way easier to deal with then the crimes that come along with letting anyone freely walk in and out of the resident’s hall.

Research (?)

Research is not my biggest area of interest when it comes to writing. I have done a research paper once and it was not the best experience for me to say the least. When it comes to researching things I have problems with knowing what to take from my research, and how to elaborate on it. It is hard for me to process what I should say about the things I take from the research when it comes to actually discussing it in a paper . Once I understand something it comes very easy for me to write on it, but with research I don’t really know if the things I understand are relevant to discuss in my paper. Research to me is taking a broader topic and putting it into context in the way you want to look at it. When doing research I often question how to look at the topic? What do I want to figure out about the topic? And are the sources I use good sources? I have basic knowledge on research but my researching skills could be better.

Language.

The first article is talking about how language is used in the form of grammer. I think the author makes some pretty valid points but I dont know if I fully agree with him. I think the author is trying to explain how people useing different types of grammer does not mean one is wrong and one is right. Although people come from different backgrounds and hear different types of language and grammer when growing up their is a certain exception to how well you must be able to talk. When the author says that the woman is irritated because her secretaries are saying "they was." that is a good example of how you have to learn how to use proper grammer in the work place. On the other hand that could just be the type of language that the secretaries are used to using in their own environment, and they just say it without really noticing or getting corrected on it. what may be "proper english to one person may not be "proper" to the next.

Peer Revieeew!

Peer Review in class thursday was actually helpful. I figured that it would just be us trying hard to find something wrong with eachothers paper, or us acting as if nothing is wrong with eachothers paper. But my partner Shelby and I gave eachother alot of helpful advice. Peer review helped me with what I should add in , leave in, or take out my paper, and that is what i usually struggle with while writting a paper. Also reading Shelbys work helped me realize some details that i could be using in my own paper. Peer review helped me WAY MORE than i expected it to.

Why Ashley Cant Ride A Bike ;'(

When I was a little kid my sisters LOVED Riding  bikes, (by me being the youngest and wanting to be different) I HATED riding them (or at least Pretended I hated riding them). But then I noticed My sisters would ride their bikes all the time with friends from our neighborhood, and look as if they were just having the time of their life. This made me jealous! So i asked my sister cherisse (who is only a year older then me) to help me learn to ride a bike so that i could have the time of my life too. I was tired of walkin alongside them while they rode their bikes and eventually passed me up. The first attemp at trying to ride a bike for me was me holding on to the ramp on the side of our house while Pedaling, this helped me learn a tiny bit about ridding a bike .. How to pedal. then cherisse tried to get me to pedal WITHOUT holding on to the ramp, I could never keep my balance without the ramp, because I was scared i would fall. Cherisse eventually got tired of my balance problems, soooo she quit on me. I was embarresed so i went back to pretending to know how but hate riding bikes, this time so i wouldnt seem stupid for not knowing how to ride a bike. On my 11th birthday my bestfriends mom got me a bike because she thought i knew how to ride it, needless to say my sisters had sooooo much fun with MY gift! But i really didnt care because they would brown-nose me to get a turn to ride it! Over time i lost interest in riding bikes all together. Now i am content with my lack of bike Know-How.
